This is a list of the basic products you need to get started, with a brief description of what those products are used for. It is by no means exhaustive.
Scrapbooking Album: this is the 'book' that you use to put all the finished pages in. They come in a standard 12" X 12" size as well as 8" X 8".They also come in 8.5 X 8.5 size. I find the larger size useful for a chronilogical book of events with a start date and continuing. The 8" X 8' might be nice for a really special family vacation or a special period of time in your life. It is important that you get archival quality album pages to protect your work.
Paper: This is the paper you use to do the project on. It is important to pick a paper that is archival so it can be a true lasting legacy. Generally crafters do a layout of photos, embellishments, (pretty things that relate to the theme-like little rattle stickers for new baby themes), stamping impressions, and even journaling blocks. Yep, you can put a cute little blurb about how you almost delivered in the elevator!
Paper Cutters: This can be as simple as scissors or more fancier like using edging scissors, die cuts or large paper trimmers. You'll see more and more of these products at Lillys and we'll soon be providing links to them in these pages.
Embellishments: These are the pretty things that you can add to your project. It can be stickers, dimensional stickers, they can be cloth or ribbon or even eylet type embellishments. They are usually something to do with the theme of you page. For instance if you have photos from last years winter holidays you might use snowflakes, presents, stars etc.
Adhesives: This is what you use to stick the photos, layering paper and other stuff to you page. Once again it is important that you use archival quality adhesives so as not to damage your photos or pages.
Photos: You can use several or just use one photo and make it stand out. In our video age it is really nice to have still photos. I know a four year old who loves going through 'still' pictures of her and her sister when they were younger. It's like browsing through a new book.
